Put Stabil in the gas and make sure you drain the water out of the motor everytime you have it out. If you have livewells and can't drain them completely place some RV anti-freeze in them to keep from breaking the line and/or pumps.

To drain the motor, when you have your boat loaded at the landing, just place your motor verticle for a few minutes and that should do it. Don't wait to drain your motor till you get home as your lower unit could freeze on the way home and that will be co$tly.

No need to go through winterizing if it does get put away for more than a couple of months. If you are worried and want to do something, pull out spark plugs and shoot some fogging oil in the cylinders, crank the motor a couple of times and place the plugs back, you are done.
