Location: milwaukee		I'm looking at the manual for my 55PD, which is dated 11-98. It lists "Maximizer" as one of it's features, and later on describes it as "...Maximizer's solid state electronics create pulse width modulation to provide longer running time and extended battery life."

So safe to say an 8-year old 55PD would have the Maximizer feature available.
