what about this?

i have a 36v trolling motor (3 batteries in series).
could i connect a 12v stern trolling motor to just one of those batteries?
if so, would it matter which battery in the series?
or would the 36v running through the batteries fry the 12v i'm trying to draw off of just one?
and what if i tried to use both trolling motors at the same time? trouble?
