Get the stretchy bungee cords that do not have the metal hooks. Hook it on the eyelet then the other end to the trailer. I bought a stearns cover for my brother's boat that has the straps, had to tighten sveral times on the trip, then one broke. I took them off and used bungee cords, no problems.
