Posted this last night and it was there, then it was gone. I'll try again....

Anyone had any, or heard of any, problems with 1999 Mercury 25HP long shaft. Mine self destructed the lower cylinder last week. Very low hours on the motor. Gas was mixed properly with the only difference being the addition of 2.5 oz of Sta-bil in 6 gals of 50/1 mix. I know that shouldn't make a difference.

Motor was running ok then started to lose power and after I shut if off it would start but wouldn't stay running. Compression check of cylinders showed 120lbs top and 30lbs bottom.

Would like to know what caused this as I have no clue. Single carb so what went in top cylinder went in the bottom. If it was bad gas mix wouldn't both cylinders have burned up????

$625 to get it fixed and I don't want to pay to have the motor fixed and then have it burn again.

Any ideas or suggestions welcome....

Scott
