I had that happen on my way to Cave Run one night, ended up finishing the trip with my flashers on (which really seemed to amuse a Ky. trooper).

Turned out, when I put in my motor toter, the end of it jambed the trailer light wire that crosses inside my trailer's rear crossmember against the metal, and shorted it out. I had just enough wire to pull it out, clip out the bad spot, and clip the wire back together. I added expanding foam inside the crossmember to keep the wires from moving again.

Not saying that is your problem but could be a place to check. m
