Planned on stopping at Cabela's anyway...:)

Will check out the motor clinic in Bloomington.

From the reports I've heard, the DS seems to be reliable. I am not interested in the model with the "bottom follow" capabilities, just a basic digital steer motor on a scissors style mount. If Minn Kota offered their PD/AP on a scissors mount I would buy it and put up with the fact that I hate their pedal system.

I am going to mount both Maxxum and Motorguide DS to Minn Kota's sliding mount and then I can have whichever motor I want on the boat. I want units with scisssors style mounts so they can be lifted easily, even by the person on the front deck with one hand while playing fish if needed. Secondly I want to be able to control the unit from the rear of the boat so in situations where clients/guests are on the front deck, I can control the unit from the rear deck. Seems the only way I am going to get what I want is to have two units on slide mounts.

Bottom line... I love my Maxxum's, but it doesn't suit me in all situations so I'm trying to come up with a system for all situations.

Sure wish Minn Kota wouldn't have quit making the Genesis...
