I wouldn't worry about it if the dealer had no problem with it while it was running. My Merc will somtimes do the same thing when it's not running (I always trailer my boat in reverse to the prop doesn't spin). It's the way the gears line up/don't line up in the case that prevents it from going into gear.
Try spinning the prop by hand and then putting it in reverse. It may take a couple tries but it should eventually slide into gear.
