Location: Athens, Ohio		dude, I would NOT use teflon tape. Imagine even a bit of that stuff getting into the gear oil and then...
And, how long would it last and how would you know?
If you can get a longer bolt and it will hold oil, that is your best bet, otherwise you may have to rethread and that would not be a job I'd do myself knowing the little I know. good luck with it, m
