Location: Elk River, Minnesota		not sure how your situation applies, but there has to be some way to remove the bolt and replace it.

What kind of motor is it, and where is the bolt located?

I would go that route first. Better to play safe in the long run. Taht washer is there so you when the nut is tightened, it will not dig into the housing. All too easy to over tighten on aluminum.

you might get away with just the bolt for a quick fix, but in the long run, better to do the bolt.
