Location: New Baden IL		I wrapped the areas that contacted the boat with electrical tape, and never had a scratch from them afterwards. Easy and cheap fix...I like easy and cheap.
I never trailered the boat with them on, it's too easy to just take them off and not lose them if they would rattle off.
