How do you prevent the Down East Salty S-10 clamp on rod holders from scratching the top of your gunnel or the side of your boat? Has anyone tried gluing felt or something like that on the places where the rod holder comes in contact with the boat, i.e. the underside of the U-bracket and the plates that make contact with the boat? One final question. Do you trailer your boat with the S-10's mounted? I have had them work loose, and the only thing I can figure out is that the vibration from trailering is causing them to loosen.

Thanks in advance for your help.
