Subject: RE: Honda vs Yamaha

Hondas are offered in 15, 20, 25 and 30 but the Yammies are a 15, 25 and then to a 40. I'm looking at a pair of Alumacrafts, one a 14.5 and the other a 16.5 Yukon. Both are tillers. Yukon weighs 250 lbs. more. The 16' Nadens in Ontario that we have used are equipped with a 20 2 stroke Yamaha. They are rated for a 40 hp. max. They weigh around 325 lbs. Both of us in the boat and our euipment, they go 23 mph wide open. The Alumacraft are rated for a 35 max ( 14 Fisherman) and a 50 hp max ( Yukon). I love the room in the Yukon but I will only be able to afford a 25. I don't think that is sufficient for that size boat. The Hondas have 2 cyl in the 20, but 3 in the 25. Will the 25 suck that mucch more gas??? Thanks.
