OK, on the inside of the wheel fenders is a board with carpet on the boat side that acts as a skirt to keep rock and stuff from flying off the tires onto the side of the boat. I have a trailer with dual axles, so the board is 5.5 ft. long, and now that it is rotten, the fasteners don't hold it to the fenders and it flaps in the wind and rubs on the inside of the tires.
Went to Lowes and got 3 ft. of 6 ft. wide black boat carpet, 3/8 inch luauan plywood, some killer water seal, some carpet glue and new fasteners. Ran me about $50. Used the fenders as patterns and cut the plywood, got it water sealed, and the carpet glued and stapled. Going good so far.
Good luck on the plastic lumber, I hope it doesn't damage your boat's finish. Not sure how or if it is different from the product on the web, let us know how it goes. m
