Drain the lower unit and replace the gear lube, run the motor out of gas, pull the plugs and use fogging oil to spray in the cylinders turning it over just a little. It's better to be running water through a hook up so your water pump is lubed while you turn the motor over, even alittle. Stabil in the gas, and you are set.
