I have an 80# Powerdrive and a 40# Powerdrive on my boats. One important thing to do is unplug the motor when charging the battereis, and when not in use. This also prevents a surge from a storm hit or the like taking out the motherboard. Keeping the foot pedal clean is important, grit, sand, dirt, etc isn't good for it. I have only had to order one pedal over the years, and that one took a lightning hit in a parking lot in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. Usually, if the pedal isn't turning the motor right or left, (this might sound strange, but try it) I turn the pedal over and sharply tap it on the deck a few times to dislodge any crap stuck in the workings. It's worked every time for me, but maybe I'm just lucky.
