yes, make sure everything is grounded properly. Do you have the white wire connected to your trailer? Some just ground by hooking up to the truck and don't hook up the white wire, that usually causes problems. Also, be sure all your ground wires to your trailer are free from rust. Unscrew them and take a wire brush to the metal on the trailer and the connectors on the wire.
