Sorry to hear about your bad luck, But you did not say what model TUFFY boat you own!! I have seen boat owners drill a 4"hole in the bow cap and install a cover over the hole, this allows for easy access to the bolts on the underside of your trolling motor mounting bracket for ease of installation or repairs,or like was suggested, the use of washers,nuts or bolts on the bottom side. I hope this helps!!!!
