I have a 9.9 Merc on my Ranger 621 and I have no problem getting the speed listed. I use mine to troll all the time. It will top out at about 6.5 mph. The only difference between the 225 and 9.9 is sound. The sound of the 225 is more bass and the 9.9 is a tinny sound. I hooked Trollmaster on the 9.9 and would not hesitate to put it on my next motor.
