I think you should be able to get there. I have a 9.9 on my 1700 Esox Angler, and can get to 6-7 at wot. Granted, I have a smaller boat, but I've been in 2025's, 619/620's, and Tuffy 1990's eye fishing, and I think you'll be able to get it to 5. At some point, your just pushing lots of water with the boat, and 5 HP won't make a difference. Try it out and see what you can do with it. You might be able to bump that motor to a 15 with a carb change.
