I've had both engines in a Tahoe.The 5.3 gets a tad better mileage and seems to tow a little better.Seat of the pants feel is the 5.3 has a little more low-end grunt.Having said that I would buy on condition of the vehicle.I routinely put 125,000 miles on my work car in 3 years.Easy miles,often original brakes.Compare that to a "work"truck that gets beat on daily but has only 45,000 in 3 years.I'll take the 125,000 mi. rig every time.Good luck!
