Boy Doonan, that's a loaded question! It so much depends upon your individual needs and fishing style. What size of waters do you fish? Do you fish in current? do you predominantly troll or cast? You have to figure out what strengths and weaknesses each layout has and apply them to your needs.
I love my tiller, but I also fish w/ some good sticks that fish out of a console - we have different fishing styles and each configuration fits our needs best.

It's kinda like asking 'should I buy a pickup or an SUV?'.
