Location: Eau Claire, WI | I owned a 96 V166 Falcon with a 60hp tiller. Nice ride, good power/boat size ratio.
Likes: Nice ride, trailer/boat matchup was good, sat level in the water and tracked nice behind the trolling motor. Trolling motor batteries were in the floor, good for weight distribution. Nice rig if you are a walleye fisherman or panfisherman.
Dislikes: Interior was not good for musky fishing from the back of the boat. Rod storage was very poor for musky rods and ok for walleye rods. Some of the wood they used on deck areas, top cap was untreated and prone to getting soft. Not sure if that still holds true on current models or not.
Teck from this board has a V177 sc with a 115. Not a bad rig from what I saw in Canada last year. I'm not sure about factory support/service issues...I've hear some bad stories but you know how that goes. I talked to old dealers and current dealers and got stories on both sides of the coin.
I would strongly suggest two things:
#1 Contact Jim "Murph" Murphy from Leech Lake are. His contact info can be found on this site. He used to be part of Warriors pro team and could give you some very good insite, positive and negative. Jim's a good guy and will give you an honest opinion.
#2 You owe it to yourself to check into Tuffy's current lineup and if you are not in a hurry, hang on for just a little longer and take a look at the new interior design on the 1760 hull.
