Beav,

That deal on yours is called a CoPilot, believe it or not. I added that to the Merc 25 on my old Tuffy, when the tensioner on the motor wore out, and was too expensive to repair. I'm sure there is a tensioning device on the Johnson, too. ANd it may also be worn out.
