I took it to the lake first time of the year this morning.  I put the motor all the way up, put the plug in, etc.

All of a sudden when my son started backing the truck towards the ramp, the 250 E tec decided to trim down by itself.  I tried the trim switch on the throttle and on the motor itself and couldn't stop it.  Finally it hit the pavement and the trim motor was still going.  I finally turned the master power switch off and the trim motor stopped.

The skeg was literally stuck in the hot black top.  I turned the master power back on and neither switch would get it to trim back up.  I tried several times with no avail.

I used a screwdriver and did the manual release.  It took 3 of us to lift the 250 up and get the safety bracket under it so it was in the up position so I could drive home.

I was so mad.  I let it sit all day.  I just went out to test again and it works just fine.  Up and down no issues.

This could be a total fluke, but when at the landing, the motor was up when we started backing up.  Then I turned the Lowrance on the dash on and and that's when the motor went haywire and trimmed down by itself.  I thought maybe there was some sort of power surge with the new battery that caused this.  But I just replicated exactly what I did at the landing and everything works fine.  The motor is no longer possessed.

I am baffled how the motor got possessed and trimmed itself down.  Neither switch worked to get it back up at the landing and now it works fine.

I will try again in the morning, but for now all seems fine.  I do not want to risk this happening again.  It's one thing in the parking lot, but what if that thing trimmed itself down while on the water.  There would be no way to get it back on the trailer at the landing without having to get in the water and trying to lift the motor manually again.

Any ideas?
