I always use them too. When you go over a bump sometimes your trailer tires try and jump.That is alot of motor to be bouncing. A friend rigs a tie down for his 15 hp also> works good too. You have too much $$ and too much missed pleasure to mess up your transom for saving the $35 and it takes about a minute to put on. Open drain plg > put on transom saverr> close drain plug.
