This is a question for guys from the Chicago area who may have been in a similar position. I have a Tuffy X-170 in Northern Wisconsin. I live in a close-in suburb north of Chicago. I have always kept the boat in Wisconsin over the winter for two reasons - 1) I don't have garage space for it and 2) I never had a tow vehicle that I would be comfortable making a long trip with.

I now have a tow vehicle that would be up to the job, but nowhere to store the boat. Is there a place where a person could, for a reasonable expense, store a boat over the winter and be able to pull it out a few times in late September/October and early spring to use locally, weather permitting? Is this even worth the effort and expense given the short time I would be able to use it locally before Memorial Day and after mid-September or early October?

Thanks for any guidance/experiences.
