The original thread from 2011 said June, July, august, and September. I wouldn't be able to compete since its generally to warm in June, July, and August to safely fish for muskies.

CRL - though I may disagree vehemently with your assessment of most everything NFL...if there were enough teams, I would consider creating a Southern Division that would start in March, then go on a break during the hot summer months. Then we are not asking guys to fish when the water temps are too high.

Thoughts about this:

4-6 Divisions.
Regional?
4-5 months of competition?
3 day window of connection versus same day rule?

I'm actually on the opposite end where I can do it in midweek and most of the guys we fished against were weekends. So, the three day window would work out great.

Musky45 and I had fun when we were involved couple years ago...We'd be up for it again.

3-day window sounds great, although part of me questions if that is even a large enough window.
(wed-fri you miss the weekend, fri-sun you miss the week) - we all have different and crazy schedules no doubt, i can realistically only plan to fish weekends for example. Also more of a granular question but would there be a maxiumum amt of TOW allowed for a match? Example within these 3 days you can only have 24 hours total on water - or something to that effect, just curious if someone could realistically fish much harder than another team within the rules, or if the playing field will have a level.

4-5 month competition sounds awesome, you get the full spectrum.
Regional could be really cool, different regions of the main musky fishing states ect, i like that idea. One question with this, i live in the Twin Cities, but fish in NW Wisconsin, which region would i be in?

We could somehow do it for a week. Maybe impose a time stamp on the photos or have the judge not inform the contestant tell there scheduled fishing day or day before there scheduled day what the "item" that has to be included in the picture is. I like the 24 hour rule so everyone has the same TOW to "compete".

We would almost have to do where each person lives since I'm in Fargo, but fish the cities and northern mn. Or we could do divisions by when each team is more than likely to fish.

Ex. The Weekend Warriors Division. The Wasted Weekday Division.....

3 day window is as generous as we should go...much more, and is it really match fishing? Then it becomes more of "I went fish a day this month, so did you...how did you do?". This puts the pressure on the teams to catch fish THAT day.

FYI: when we first did this, had to be same day, and people managed.

The day should be from just after midnight in the morning (?) to midnight of the day. That probably doesnt make sense. BUT, i like the long day because then you gotta earn it.

The one thing that should NOT change for sure is the same day/date rule......Midnight to 11:59. That was one of the most fun aspects of it.

I don't have a flexible work schedule during the week days but it was never that hard for us to make the dates work with opponents.

"Way back when," one of the more challenging things was the technical ability or lack of effort to get the fish caught reported on a timely basis. With the networks and phones/tablets today, that aspect will no longer be a problem.

We always did well in pool matches but eventually got tripped up in the playoffs......someone's money spot was always just a bit better than ours.

The photo of Jonesi's minnow bucket hat, as his proof of catch, still sticks in my mind. Point being, good times.

Slamr, I'd be willing to help. Give me a call to see if we could make it work in my schedule.

I think this sounds awesome. You are going to get more people to do it if it is more flexible. Get a good base of people going and getting it to work around their schedules then make it more competitive.

Just an idea for you to toss around in your head. I am very interested in this idea and I hope everything works out.

I would be willing to spend countless hours, throwing countless lures at countless spots in hopes of catching something.
Question: I live in Iowa and summer would NOT be good fishing for the most part. Would it be allowed for me to fish a lake like Leech instead since I go up there often? Or would that only be legal if the lake was in the region I am in?

wkeegobbler,

Historically, the region you were in was merely due to your address and general home fishing range.

A south region match up could be between a team on vacation on Leech and a team on a trip to LOTW, as long as the date was agreeable.

I'm in Iowa, I'm ready for some match fishing. I have one trip to LOTW and at least one more to a Minnesota lake planned so I could use those days as mine. If nobody is organizing it I can shoulder some of the responsibility.

If this goes ahead I would like in. Would prefer 1 day format.

I'm retired so if 3 day how would you prevent me from fishing 3 days and submitting my best? ( just thinking out loud )

I think if i formed a 3 man team 2 of us would usually be able to fish and also have the advantage of living 5 minutes from the water.

That's not an issue. We know how to make it work seamlessly, just haven't decided whether this is going to happen.

I'm in as a Team with Keith, and will help administer if Slamr and I can come up with a system that will work for 2015.

We will need a 'stats' guy. Anyone in?

Just crunching numbers. I'll get Slamr to chime in.

One thing:

If you decide to fish...FISH! One of the problems we have had in the past is teams signing up for a pool and then just going 'poof'.

I bet we could fill a few pools.

Why not both? I would enjoy a meet up though, I'm brewing a couple of batches of beer tomorrow so give me at least a month. Also bottling my bourbon porter and cream stout soon.
