How can I post photos from my iPhone? When I try to upload them in the control panel I get a message that the file is too large.

To be posted to the forum, your image needs to be resized or shot at 640X480 pixels for ideal dsplay.

How would I go about resizing an image on the I phone. Sorry I'm not real tech savvy when it comes to smart phones.

Here's what I do, and it has worked pretty well for me. When I want to post a picture to this site from my iPhone, I begin by emailing the picture to myself. I just click on the little arrow that lets you choose email, text, Facebook, etc. When I follow the steps to email the picture, my iPhone asks what size I'd like the emailed image to be. I click "medium." Then, when the emailed (and now resized) image appears in my inbox, I save this new version to my camera roll, and post THAT version of the photo. It probably sounds more complicated than it is and it only takes a minute or so to do this. I've gone to doing this every time I post a picture on this site as I can do this faster than I can use the resizing software on my PC.

One thing to check...

When you email photos from your iPhone, there is an option to choose different resolutions for the image. The higher the resolution, the larger the file size. So try to email to yourself the lowest resolution of the image, and see what the actual pixel count is. It might already be 640x480, according to a couple Internet links I've found.

I've never tried using the lowest resolution available, but it might save you some work.

TB

EDIT: Just tried it. For the one picture I just snapped with my iPhone 4, here are the pixel counts for the lowest two resolution options. Note that a newer model might have different pixel counts, so you'll have to verify on your phone. But anyway, mine are:

"Small" (320x240), "Medium" (640x478)

So select medium and give it a try with your images. They might be good to go, right out of the gate.

And it may save me some work too. I resize images in posts here all the time so they display correctly. Most of the time, they are posted from a mobile device. Soon...that will not be an issue!

Download a free picture resizing app. I use one called Tekunodo. Very easy to use, much easier than emailing pic to yourself and ten times faster. You open app, access your photo album, slide a bar until you reach the required resize and blamo its done.

The easiest way is to take a screenshot of your photo and then use that image. Screenshot = press home button and sleep button at same time.

I downloaded an image resizing app called "simple resize". It works great but I may try the screenshot method next time I have a pic to put up, sounds as easy as it can get.

And the screenshot is automatically smaller or the proper size than the original?

It can't get any easier than that IMO.
I have not caught a 50"er yet so take it for what it's worth. Lol. Just joking. Don't delete this:)
