There are lots of options out there now, try wearing one before you buy. We use V.I.O. POV units, and really like them.

GoPro for the casual videotographer. There's a reason they're #1. Just like some people use Marcum, but Vexilar is still the gold standard.

Love my GoPro. Most of the vids here (https://vimeo.com/user28546492) were shot with it. Learning editing as I go.

Editing is fairly straight forward, but it takes a lot of time. Figure at least an hour spent for every minute of finished video.

Anyone ever try this one? www.mycapcam.com
Looks like it has an adapter that can fit onto the boat light and then draw power from the cigarette plug.

Does Go-Pro have an option like this? I'm looking at getting something like this for fall sucker fishing this year....

We also use the VIO POV units, a little bigger unit on the bottom, we switched out
the 4 standard batteries with 1 - 10,000 ma and it lasts around 7 hours of on time.
Also having the external mic in the cord give great sound, and being able to save just what you want, the chip lasts 7 hours also. but check them out before you buy and try before you buy. Oh, I have 6 gopro hero 2 with the lenses changed out so you don't get the fisheye effect, all work great with extra batteries if anyone is interested.

Good Luck

What platform are you using? Is the time it takes for you primarily rendering the video?

Consumer reports rate this one highly. Maybe a new kid on the block. http://camcorder.jvc.com/product.jsp?modelId=MODL029293
Doesn't look user friendly if you want to wear it.
