Looks that way. Only if you participate in both will "we" have league twice a week.

Yes there is currently a Tue night league, which is full and has been for years, we will fish the opposite lake as the Tue night league. I think we all know there is a lot of pressure on these lakes but we are adding no more pressure as most of the people fishing the league will fish weather its in a league or not.

League will be twice a week wether I do or do not participate. The we I was referring to was everyone else that buys either a yearly or daily launch permit that uses the Madison Chain of lakes.

This league opens up the opportunity for others to fish a league who currently do not get a chance because of no vacancies. I highly doubt a second league would add a significant amount of pressue since most likely these same guys would be fishing anyway. Besides, Posting pictures on Facebook (and online forums) of nice fish adds way more pressure and people still manage to pull fish out of these waters.

The issue is the pressure is concentrated on a particular lake for that night. If I forget to check which lake league is on Tuesday night, and stumble into it, it's hard to miss.

Nothing wrong with folks doing it, they have the right, but it doesn't mean people will be happy about a second one.

As mentioned, the current league is full and has been for years. I inquired about joining a few years ago and was basically laughed at and said to join the "waiting" list. Some people have been waiting for years. Those of us who have been waiting now have the opportunity to fish in a league setting. Also like stated we currently fish these waters every week anyways so the added pressure is bull. It will be nice to actually meet some of the same same boats I see every week. Look forward to it!

Whats one more day to avoid.. Friday-Sunday is a zoo, Tuesday has league..

Already down to Monday Wednesday and Thursday if you don't want to fish on top of someone or deal with drunken jet skiers and wakeboarders.. Might as well crowd up Thursday too..

Monday and Wednesday watch out..!!

If you really think there's no extra pressure, why not fish the same lake as the Tuesday night league? You're not worried about fishing behind them, right? And you can tell people who do think there's too much pressure that only one lake will be used by a league for the entire week. Win-win.

the league is a fun setting. Its not about money. Its about getting out on the water with a group of people and meeting at the landing afterwards for good stories and usually some snacks. Jason Bomber whats your address? I can send you a box of tissues if it helps. The last time I checked this is a public chain of lakes. If you don't like the pressure we all have to deal with then don't fish. I can usually only fish one night a week for a league and on the weekends. You just have to deal with the pressure, wake boaters, and jet skis. Maybe you should consider joining the league and see just how fun it is.

No need for that sentence. Let's keep it to an adult conversation
I too will only fish one night a week this yr with the new baby and don't want it to be a league night, which will be more unavoidable now.

I'm convinced some people just like to complain.. it's like my condo associaton on here I tell ya...a few things to think about for the guys that are against it.... one, the league will fish both Monona and Waubesa, so there is plenty of an opportunity to fish the opposite lake and it will take all those boats you are so worried about to the other lake so you will actually benefit from the league. Most guys in the leagues fish a lot anyway so as others have said is it really adding any more pressure? I find that argument comical..it's Madison...any given night the lakes are busy, it's 4 hours...c'mon.
Also, many of the guys in the league are married, w kids, and can't fish every night they'd like so having a set aside night they are in a league to get a "hall pass" is a huge benefit to some vs. the guys who can fish whenever they want.
Also, our tues league gets done at 9:00 and 9:30 pm, most guys come back to the landing to hang out and talk...for the guys on the lake they virtually have the lake to themselves after that time... unless you are afraid of the dark stay out and have at it... no pressure!
I can understand some of the backlash for the tues and now thurs leagues but if you really stop to think about it imo the guys not in the league can benefit from them as well......and as others have said, join in, you might have some fun and win a few bucks... good luck to the thurs nite league, we will post our tues nite league sched on the cap city board and I'd encourage the thurs league to do the same.

Leagues Bass, Muskie add pressure to boat landings more than anything. Please be courteous and load or unload your boat and leave the area as soon as possible. Also have some manners and don't cut off people that are fishing a spot.
I'm sure glad I'm retired and can fish in the mornings.

Thank you BNelson, and yes we will post the schedule as soon as I can, keep in mind the people joining the league fish these bodies of water on a weekly basis to begin with so they are going to fish whether it is in a league or not, might as well make it fun and meet some new people

the reason the tues nite league alternates lakes is to avoid the bass league (too many boats unloading/loading at the same time)....switching the thurs nite league to tues nite would not avoid that. not a good idea.... just deal w it..i suspect the thurs nite league will have 6-10 boats..not that many in the grand scheme of things....just fish the lake they're not on and you'll be ok...

Jason, you seem to fish a lot at nite.. the leagues are done at about dark... then the guys are off the water.. you don't think that actually benefits guys like you that fish after dark??? ..even a little?
I guess playing devils advocate if the league is on wauby and I know the boats are going in at 9 or 9:30 and it's August.. I think I'll fish that lake.. as who wouldn't like the 10 boats in league off the water when it's dark..!? well, I would..

I guess I fail to see the benefits from a non participant standpoint.. Don't get me wrong, a quiet lake is nice, but its not like the whole lake leaves when league is done..

I'm done arguing though.. I think pretty much everyone knows I'm not a fan.. lol

ok so not the whole lake but a good chunk of the boats on the water leave... the league is still only on one body of water ... that leaves another lake to fish if you want to avoid the league... which does benefit non leagures in imo...think of it this way, if 12 boats are in the league on thurs, say they didn't have it, 6 went to wauby, 6 went to monona, now all 12 are going to ONE lake... less pressure for the other body of water isn't it???
not a bad trade off really is it? I'm not fishing the thurs league but I don't see how it will really hurt anything... might even help some nites I want to fish the lake they aren't on!

there are "glass half full" and "glass half empty" people in this world that is for sure
