Location: Latitude 41.3016 Longitude 88.6160 | MuskieFever - 6/27/2013 11:08 AM I have an avid AC300, when I turn the handle to engage the reel, sometimes there is a delay in the click of the reel engaging. What should I do? Also, if I sent in a reel, how long before I get it back roughly? Thanks. Sounds like the reel needs a good detailing and relube, I'm so backup, right now if you send me a reel I should have it back to by the end of JULY. send reel to RICHARD W SCHMITZ 90 HILLSMAN LANE SENECA IL 61360 also your cell, email and return address. Posts: 7 | I just bought a new revo toro nacl 6.4.1. I spooled it up with 80lb cortland and was trying it out and noticed that the spool tension knob when fully tightend will not even keep lighter lures from falling. Anything heavier than a top raider it won't hold. I was just wondering if this is normal with the abu toro nacl reels?

I spooled it up with 80lb cortland and was trying it out and noticed that the spool tension knob when fully tightend will not even keep lighter lures from falling. Anything heavier than a top raider it won't hold. I was just wondering if this is normal with the abu toro nacl reels? First make sure the screw that holds the side plate is tight, then make sure the fiber washer is in the cast tension knob, it is a brown color flat washer. OK here is my take on cast tension knobs, all my reels the cast tension knob is set so the spool does not move side to side, then I never touch it. I will set the reel spool brakes, most have 6 spool brakes, I will set most of my reels with 3-4 on, some have all 6 on and some only have 2 on. When I need more brake I take the time to open the reel and add more spool brakes. The cast tension knob has fiber washers so if U crank it tight they will dimple and the the spool will be off center in the frame and that will cause the gears to be out of alignment and the gears will sound like a coffee grinder, then U will have to replace the fiber washers and the gears in the reel. Use your thumb and most Toro reels U should have 3-4 brakes on. Hope that helps.

With a 400D and 300D, if both were spooled up with 80lb, line would the 300D still have a higher line pick up, faster retrieve even though it has less line capacity on a normal length cast? Looking for a jerkbait reel and love my 400D, not sure if I should get a 300D for this application, want a faster retrieve. Thank you

Looking for a jerkbait reel and love my 400D, not sure if I should get a 300D for this application, want a faster retrieve. Thank you The 300D has 30" of line pickup with a full spool and the 400D has a 27" line pickup with a full spool so if casted both say 125 ft I would say they both would have the same line pickup at the start of the retrieve and the 300d will pickup line a little faster as ithe bait gets closer to the boat. I would use a line like 832 or Daiwa in 80lb test both lines are small dia and will pack on the spool better then some of the older braid. The Shimano D reels are in a class by themself. If U wanted to take a 400D and install a set of 300D 5.6:1 gears in it U would have the best of what U R looking 4

The Morrum have a retail of $499.99 so not to many will be used for Musky, more of a Bass swim bait reel. The other round reel all have a updated look and some upgrades and a higher price for 2014.

It looks like the daiwa is low profile, does it appear to be a more durable version of the lexa 300? Any price point? Thanks.

The new Daiwa Tatula reels are for Bass swim Bait casting, but can be use for Musky, I think it holds about 125yds of 50lb braid so it should hold 100 yds of 65lb braid, retail under $200.00 This reel has the new T Wing level wind system, I wonder if it will hold up to heavy braid and heavy baits casting ??????

Hi, was curious, do you think anything for muskie anglers came out this year that would sway a person from picking up another 400D if they are looking to add a reel?

Location: Latitude 41.3016 Longitude 88.6160 | BenR - 7/12/2013 7:09 PM Hi, was curious, do you think anything for muskie anglers came out this year that would sway a person from picking up another 400D if they are looking to add a reel? Take a look at the Lexa 400, a 15oz reel that holds 200yds of 80lb braid, RT hand comes in a 5.1:1, a 6.3:1 and a 7.1:1, the lefty does not come in a 5.1:1 just the 6 and 7 gears, sorry maybe next year. I'm not a fan of the 300 Lexa so I will wait till I can open one up and see how well it is built, with the large dia spool it could have a 30" line pickup in the 5.1:1 gears and with the 120mm handle should have some cranking power, just not sure how well they will holdup in the Musky world. retail at $249.99 and the Okuma 350 reels, a spin off of the Toro Curado reels. I was hoping for some more Saltwater reels that could be used for Musky but not this year. The Shimano 300D-400D reels are in a class far above the rest.

Posts: 164 Location: Twin Cities | Pikemaster, I have a new Revo 61 NaCI and over the last few days the thumb bar has gotten to the point where you almost need to use your other thumb to press it. Also, it is very difficult to engage the handle after a cast when it is in freespool. Have you heard of any issues like this with the new Revo's or have any idea what the issue may be. Thanks Jason

Going to use pounders for the first time and want to use my nacl 50 hs, with 100 braid will it function well or will it be too slow at start of retrieve? How much difference than a 60? Thanks
