Pikemaster--
Would you recommend Boca Bearings in a 400 b Calcutta? Do you these on your magic.
Thanks in advance Jim

For Musky reels stock bearings are fine, unless they are worn out then replace them with S.Steel ABEC 5 Bearings.
I don't like Ceramics Bearings they are very loud and not needed in casting Musky baits.

Pikemaster, Ive got an abu NACL 60. Every once in a while the thumb bar stays in the down position and it takes little effort to get it to engage.. I know this is a vague description but have you heard of this on these reels before?

I have a c4 6600 and a 300 avid. Both of the drags slip when I set the hook. I completely cleaned lubed an greased them and they are smoother but still slip. Would the carbonex drag system fix this?

Carbontex Drag washers should work as long as the Metal Drag Washers that are on the drive shaft are installed the right way.

If it is under a year old send it back to ABU
if over a year old send it to me and I can fix it with a Detail, Tune and Relube.

PIKEMASTER: I have a question regarding the super cranker paddle handle... you sell these, right?

I got one last year and have loved it until this week, it's the rubber handle version. The knobs have started to squeak and bind. Is there something on them I should be oiling? Can I take the knobs off and clean the internals? Looking for help because there's not much info out there on them.

Thanks

They just need a bit of lube. A couple of drops of reel oil on either side of the paddle should do the trick. Glad you like the handles. Please message me if you have any problems.

PIKEMASTER - Just had 2 abu C5's go out on me. When I cast the reel makes an incredibly loud screeching sound. Is this fixable? I also have 2 record series reels that the handle no longer locks into place and is loose. This occured on hooksets, I think the piece the handle screws onto is bent?? Also, I have another C5 that I may have you replace the exact same thing as the other 2 to prevent the problem. If I send you these 5, including your standard detailing, tuning and lubing, and upgraded carbontex drag system what would be the turn-around and rough estimate on price?

Thanks!

Right now I'm backup till the end of JULY, U can send them and I'll look at them and see what I can do
I see NEW C3 going for $75.00 on ebay so not worth to fix a old one, but up to U.
$25.00 a reel plus parts and return shipping $9.00

Do you have any idea what could be causing the loud screeching sound? Would it be easy to replace myself?

Big News is Shimano is bringing the ConQuest to USA
100-200 are coming this Fall. In 2015 the 300-400 will be coming, can't wait. Alot of new Bass gear and reels and rods. I don't see any or much Muskie gear yet.
On the 100-200 ConQuest reels, they are SMALL, Micro Gears, XShip, SVS, and New for any reel is a clutch system on the Level wind, no more blown gears.

PIKE,

I've got an okuma induron that has an issue. When I'm retrieving something with any resistance and/or fight to it, the reel feels like it jumps into free spool for a second (thumb bar depresses without me pressing it) then engages again. Problem is I get essentially no where on line pick up if something is fighting back. When just retrieving a bait it still picks up line but it's pretty brutal feeling. Any thoughts/ideas?

??? The clutch cam system is damage ?????
I'm not sure if Okuma has parts for them yet ????
I would sell it on Ebay and start over.

Finally took your advice and replaced my old catchy drag washers with carbontex. Haven't tested them on the water yet but so far just from pulling line with my hand the power and smoothness is simply amazing! Feels like it added 10 pounds of stopping power!

Pike master,

I got a lexa 300 hs-p. I've taken it fully apart and cleaned and relubed them multiple times with no problems. This time when I was done I've got a little problem. When I crank the handle and stop it the spool still spins a little bit and makes a clicking sound when the handle stops. I don't know what is causing it to do that. Some advice would be much appreciated.

Hard to say, I would take it apart and try it again. Make sure the AR Pawl is tight on the rachet washer. If it still does it send it to Daiwa.

I have an NACL that needed a new bearing housing. The post on the line out clicker doesn't go into the little slot. So the clicker button just stays loose. Could the replacement part be a bit different? Could the clicker post wore down a bit? I'm pretty sure I put it back together correctly because I compared it to my other one.

I dropped off 4 reels at the expo and was told I'd get them back around the MN musky opener. No reels have made their way back to me as of today. I private messaged you here with no reply. Any updates? Name is Jason Kahler, reels are Tekota, Saltist, Curado, and Calcutta TE.
