Posts: 483 Location: NE PA | Richard, Is it possible to interchange gearsets between a saltist 20 levelwind and a non-level wind hyper speed model? If so could you pm me a price on this swap? I like the saltist, want to stay with the levelwind feature, like the size of the 20 series but want that 40+ inches of pickup offered in the bigger models.

Plus I'm sure a gear set from Daiwa is over $50.00 I'll have to do some cking on this one.

The 301E only comes in 6.2:1 gears, for left hand reels. On a 300E they can use a 6.2:1 and a 6.9:1 for right hand reels. I know if I was a lefty I would learn to use a right hand reel, so many more options, plus parts like the gear sets are 1/2 the cost to replace, plus most right hand parts are in stock, I have 12 sets of 401TE gears on back order since Sept from Shimano !!!!

I would get the newer Toro NaCI Power handle. That handle is very long and will give U alot more torque for DCG 10-13. I also have a 5"long Double Paddle handle that is HD and will not engage the reel on casts for $30.00 Attachments ---------------- tn.jpg (1KB - 594 downloads)

Posts: 29 | Thanks for all the offers on the reel. I've cleaned it and all is good. I wanted to get new drag washers but what I think I'll do is measure them and try Smooth Drag to get carbon fibre vice replacing what I think are teflon (white washers). Thanks again everyone for your time and Merry Christmas. Never did find a schematic or who made this reel.
