The temps are more like middle October, but the winds are going to be easy today, forecast to be West at about 10 max.
No one we talked to contacted any muskies yesterday. Kevin Nash: "It was brutal out there."
It's all on the line today. Expect the weigh in to begin earlier than normal as the Yacht Club is right next to the landing. We should have this wrapped up by 2 PM.
This place can and does kick out numbers and giants, but a 'perfect storm' of three cold fronts in as many days, 25 mile per hour winds on huge water out of the exact wrong direction, dredging in the river that stirred up the water something terrible diminishing any chance of scoring there, and the fish reported as 'going' are out of bounds created a tough bite. Those boundaries are set by the WIDNR at permitting time.

| Wow! It sure says a lot on how difficult this species of fish can be when you have that many pros out there and not one contacted a fish yesterday. Muskies are just in a whole other class of difficulty in my opinion. Go get'em guys!! I'm looking forward to reading the reports later!! |

OK, perhaps a naive question but never having fished a PMTT event I have to ask. What's with all of the rod lockers/storage lockers being open on the way out ? Are they checking for illegal equipment or have people been hiding fish in their boats only to be "caught" later ? |

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | It's the standard pre-tournament 'boat check'. No one has been 'hiding' fish because of said checks, most tournaments execute a boat check at take off. |

Boat Inspection, every morning........No live bait allowed, no Alcohol allowed and no one should have a muskie in their rig.

| Thanks for the coverage, not sure what else can be said with zero fish being caught.
I would add that it isn't a "tough bite" it is a NO BITE! There is a diffrence. |

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Midwest Walleye Series, WalleyeFIRST coverage. They had the 25 boat Championship field on the same water. That bite was tough too, it took 10.4 to win, and usually would have taken much more. Quite a few of the 25 best of near 400 teams to compete in the MWS this year took a zero.
John and Bill did a great job, and the Reel Shot/JJ Keller Team put on a clinic of sorts out there taking three out of the top 4 spots.

Location: Freedom, WI | dfkiii - A lot of guys run small stuff out there as in 6 to 7 inch stuff. from what I heard the 47" was caught on a hot n tot. I have done my best with 8 and 10 inch stuff. Ya never know. |

The walleye guys were trolling cranks, too.
There was a 44ish by another muskie guy not in the event inside the boundry, I saw the picture at lunch today. What the hell is a 'no bite' anyway?

| sworrall, Thanks for the great coverage this season! My family and friends enjoyed having an outlet for info; as I am not real good at answering my phone during tourneys! Also, by reading these post, it seems to have served as a great learning tool for guys interested in how these tourneys work! I hope more media coverage will let the rest of the world "in" on how much fun we are having on this trail! The camaraderie is awesome and I learn a ton at every event!(especially the tough ones!) As far as the "no bite" thing...we caught a 30" and dumped one on day one and landed a nice 40" in prefishing! Not a "no bite" but a "tough bite." Angler or the year Ross Korpela said it best, "The one thing you can't take out is luck." Congrats to him and Chad Mitchell on AOY! They are top notch anglers and in the mix at every event. Congrats to Austin Vig and Drew Matz on their great season, and congrats to all who competed and caught fish! If your even considering trying tournament fishing...I HIGHLY recommend it! |

Wish I could have been there,... not a better group of people gathered in the same place at one time anywhere.
My Hat's off to Mr. Worrall and his coverage of the PMTT. ..............A Great job keeping others informed ,............ The PMTT would be doing us all a disfavor by not having OFM covering Future events.
Really??? not 1 ,..... 34" muskie caught?? WOW!!........in 2 days ??....

The river dredging, winds, fronts and all just 'murdered' the fishing up there this weekend.
Thanks to the all the folks a the PMTT for the welcome we received at each event; Mr. Stella, thanks goes to you as well for all the help. Nice work again this year, gentlemen.

| Congrats to everyone on just making and competing in the PMTT Championship. It was truly an unbelievable year all the way around. We had 4 record breaking events this year. The obvious last one may be the most impressive, that many great anglers working so hard for 2 days and not a single fish. Congrats also to the Top Gun Team of the Year in Ross Korpela & Chad Mitchell, great anglers and well deserved.
We will have next years, 2013 schedule up within the next couple weeks. Heading into the 15th year of the PMTT. Incredible. |
