Location: Southern Ontario, Detroit River and Lake StClair | Dont have to many details yet but yesterday there was a 56 1/8" caught on Lake StClair during a local tournement. The tournement is still on today so I dont figure there'll be too much out until after its over. The fish was released succesfully but is worth around $15,000 to the guy who caught it. The length was offical measured at the weight in at 56 1/8" and rumour has it the fish had a girth in the 25" range when measured at the time of the catch . I'll post pics when they become avalible. So much for skinny LSC slimers.

| St. Clair is an awsome fishery...but why do they have tournaments were you have to transport your fish miles and miles across the lake??? People should voice their opinions on this and stop fishing this tournaments. I have been to one "weigh in" and watched 2 fish over 50 inches go belly up. Nobody cared or seemed like it was wrong. What's wrong with judge boats, or taking digital pics on the bump board like the Hartman tournments? |

| How did he fit it in the livewell? Cut it in half? I agree they should rethink the procedure for registering a fish. |

Actually alot of the boats on the lake are larger 29-36ft'r with 10-13ft beam and they have been retro fitted with 7'x2'x2' live wells with recuirculators and airators so having a fish fit is not a problem. 10 yrs ago you wouldn't have seen that set up on any boats. Things have come along way on LSC from the thump'em and dump'em days of the past but there's still along way to go, changeing the tournement formats would be a huge leap in the right direction........which is why I'm making this post instead of fishin' that tourney.

| tim i have the pics. the fish looked healthy. the problem is. if you got 250 you can enter. you and i know the drill. if she dont make the cut,,, and only 3 do. slit and dump.. i wish all boats were mandator for a photo , release.. one year there were 13 dead fish from hot rods.. |

That's what I was talking about with the thump'em and dump'em and is why I don't fish it even though that tournament holds a special place for me as I'm sure it does for you as well. Maybe some day it'll be a CPR tourny and then we get back out there. Here's a pic of that 56" in the recovery tank which shows what steps have been taken in the right direction but it still leaves a long way to go. Nice fish, the tanks covers some of its belly but a nice fish for sure.

| Makes no sense to me. Drive it arcoss a lake, which is usually rough even on calm days in a small little tank. Drag it on shore, measure it, weight it, which is dumb, then put it back in the tank so it can "revive". I would like to see some transmitters put into these fish and track them for awhile. I would be willing to bet that the transmitters would stop "swimming around" in a short while as the fish would be laying on the bottom someplace. A simple picture on a bump board is all you need, but from the way I have seen guys who "guide" on St. Clair treat fish, I am sure it will never change. |

Actually it's a lot of the guys that guide on Lake St.Clair that are pushing for a CPR type tourny and those guys didn't fish this tourny because of how it was ran. If you think your ready to run on about things that you dont know 100% of what your talking about at least have the balls to post a name before you take a stab at people. In case you didn't or couldn't read the above posts it was already stated that LSC has along way to go but it headed in the right direction. You should have seen what it was like 25+yrs ago when I first started guideing here. This picture was posted to show what the possiblites of LSC are if the lake is taken care of properly not for spineless "no one" guests to take stabs at the very people that are trying to get it there.
