Hey there guys, gona hit Webster and a few of the other lakes in the area this weeknd. Never been so early, anyone care to share some tips on hitting a Indiana Lake a week after Iceout? My intial plan was white Mag Bulldawgs in 12-20 feet of water, then maybe work the backwaters with some rattle traps, Delong eel's, and spinnerbaits....Any advice would be apprieciated.

Boy I can't wait to throw some lures.....

Discodan it looks like I should be seeing quite a bit of you this weekend then. I too start my year out there this Saturday and can’t wait to get on the water. Webster is always a great lake to fish but during this time of year it can be nothing short of spectacular. Now you will see me spending most of my time on the shallow flats being that is how we put together some of the 6,8,10 fish days that CAN be common this time of year. On the other hand the open water and breaks can be good for an occasional fish however they are normally the ones worth waiting for. That said if you can get suckers for this approach I would definitely try. I did talk to the bait shops and it looks like that may be a possibility in North Webster it may not. As for lures in the shallows I like twitchbaits such as Big Games and X-Raps. On the other side for open water dawgs are the way to go for me. Also don’t be afraid to throw big baits at these fish, you may be surprised what you find when you do. Good luck and hope to see you out there.

Also I believe there is a NO WAKE at all the lakes now because of the flooding!!!
Last time this happened the DNR was watching from shore and giving LARGE fines!!!
Please be careful.
