I purchased the bait in pictures below many years ago at a show (I think). It was never used because whatever was attached to the tail came off and got lost. I don't even recall what the part looked like. Does anyone know anything about these lures? Do they work? Any idea how to contact the mfg so I can get a replacement part?

Thanks.

Joe -

Based on the rat man lures that i have, I surmise that the piece that fell off was a piece of leather in the shape of a tail fin.

The ones I have are very old, from my dad's collection, and I have never used them.

Looked like this...the tail was a thin leather I believe.

In more recent times he put black rubber tails, rather than leather in them. I bought one at an outdoors show in Chicago back in the 80s. It had a black rubber tail fin. Never caught a fish on it, but it did look good coming thru the water.
I believe the "Rat-man" was perhaps a pioneer in luremaking. His were the first musky baits I saw that combined rubber and wood in one lure.
His show booths were always done nicely during his time. He always had a clear plastic water tank that he would demonstrate his lures in.
I think it would be easy for you to do a restoration on that lure.

Thanks for the replies. Any idea what this unused bait is worth?

What's this lure worth? I have a 10" Sick Sucker that produces so well, I'd rather cast a Burmek B-1! I really like the way the Sick Sucker looks in the water, but the fish I've cast it over do not agree.

I have a Greener Pike I got from a sport show years ago. Cool looking baits. It is a leather tail that went on the back. I'm sure it's worth about $20 if it were to have the tail.

That looks like an adjustable line tie, or not? I thought Supernatural was first to come out with that.

Check out the Rat-man lures facebook page. You're lure is pictured in the cover photo. Looks like the black rubber tail others mentioned.
