Saw some Wisconsin plates heading back south yesterday from ice fishing up here. Walleye just closed, but ice still great (days looking to getting warm now though).

Only walleye and sauger closed in the south here starting last year, so as far as regs go, I push for the other way as well.

Pike, perch, burbot, channel cats, crappie open all year in the south here (restricted still on the Red and some tribs).

We had a very short window with safe ice so I only got out a couple times. Fishing was good for sure. The bad ice probably saved thousands of fish, should be a good opener.

Here in metro Denver we have the four seasons but it's been a long time since we have a nice cold winter. We had a week and half of really cold weather then a week later it was 50's for a week. There was a lake I used to fish and if we had a couple of cold winters in a row we would catch a lot of Perch and it would help the fishing by thinning out the herd. (they ran small)
