Since Air Canada does not accept luggage over 80", 2-3 piece rods are required. We have used the St. Croix Legend Treks for the last few years, but have had numerous failures. Thankfully St. Croix has an excellent warranty program, and since they have discontinued the Legend Treks I went with the new 2pc. Legend Pike rods. I believe that these can handle most muskie lures in in mid-size range with ease. Any other suggestions on travel rods?

When I used to travel for my Muskie INC board meetings and I used 7' rods and things worked great and have not been on a plane in forever. I wondered how long they would allow? I like my 8' and 9's. Last fall I used 7' 9" X heavy rod. (my 9' wouldn't fit cross ways in the bed of my friends full sized pick up.) Long rods are great to fish with but a pain to travel with.

The Tackle Industries 9' 2 pc. rods travel well, come in MH, HX, and XXH.. and really are pretty good sticks for the money.

I haven't had a 2 pc. rod since the 70's. I thought these 3 pc. Treks were fantastic. We bought numerous spare tips, so the possibility of failure was always a possibility. All but one happened while slow trolling with a relativity moderated drag. The problem to stem for the XHF tip on the casting rod. My MHF 3 pcs is still functional. Yes, we lean into fish, and Yes I know they are not Ugly Stiks. BTW when the tip goes, severely back off because it is a matter of seconds before the butt snaps. tough to escape. I did manage to reel in a Lake Trout that may have gone 8 Lbs. after the 3 pcs. rod became a 5 pcs.. We got 20 over 20# last year of which 6 were over 30#. Numerous over 15#, so the rods are used. St. Croix has a superior product, but making a fishing rod more than 1 pcs interferes with all sorts of engineering difficulties, so I pray these 2 pc. Legend Pike stand the test without any spare tips. On a side note....we borrowed an Ugly Stik from a cabin neighbor, and it worked as good as the high end for that day.

No clue bud. I don't know anything about it. Just suggesting to maybe extend your search into the saltwater world as a possibility.

Just an example

Daiwa makes 3-piece Ardito Musky travel rods. I haven't used the Musky rods, but I do own 2 of their Ardito travel spinning rods that I use for traveling to saltwater destinations. Of course they are not as light as one piece, but they are still very nice rods and very strong as well. I've actually thought about picking up one of the Musky rods to take out west hunting. There are supposedly several lakes near where I hunt that have Tigers. Be nice to have a portable setup if the opportunity arises.

I finally checked, and I have had 2 2pc. MH Tackle Industry muskie rods for a couple years. They were far from being medium heavy. The rods could possibly be used to toss pounders. They are just too stiff, heavy, and long for what we are doing. I need some tip bend to fish barbless.
