Muskie plans were thwarted by ice on the ponds and lakes, but got some (fruitless) bass and crappie fishing in on the ricer.

Anyone out fishing soft or hard water these days?

Probably start to fish sometime next month. Especially if the weather stays like this.

Buddy sent me a picture of a nice Ohia river musky on Saturday. Good for him.

Went out on the 9th, more of a shakedown trip to see if I still remembered how to do some of this stuff. Found a screaming reel bearing and 40* muddy water. Any day the boat goes off and comes back on the trailer with no issues is a good day on the water for me. m

Nope, not allowed to fish for spawning muskies up here. So 3rd Sat in June is it. Lake trout/salmon for the time being until pike opens up May 1st.

I got the boat out Sunday and Monday and got a 37" & 45.75" along with 70 walleyes I was fishing for. Had to hand land the 45.75", also been out with success for steelhead & brown in the tributaries and harbor. Spring is here get out there, wet a line and find a bite!

A lot of the boat ramps opened on the 1st of March or the week after on the front range of Colorado (they will not open the lakes to boating till the lakes are ice free.) So lots of times the lakes are still closed at this time of year. In times past of they had open water but some ice they would open it up to boating. We used to go up to the edge of the ice and throw a jig on the ice and jerk it off and let it fall into open water and you would catch a fish every time.

Lakes are just opening up here, so the boat has only ran in the driveway. Plans are to get out and do some crappie fishing until everything else opens up in May and then hunting the elusive Musky come June.

First half of March got into a few in east TN, "leechlakestrain" jumped in with me for a few days. Water temps were 49-55 the last day we fished. Caught fish on Phantom glider, Swimmin Dawg and a small crankbait. Now we wait until June 1.

Hit the big pond in as many weeks. Got a fast limit of coho on cranks then went 8 for 11 Saturday on a dodger and peanut fly. One steelhead in the mix they are fun fighters. Went out sunday on lassale lake had a CO jump in at the launch and went looking for a sinking boater. We found him bailing and taking waves over the stern. Got him beached until fire and rescue could get to him. He had no idea how to operate a boat in rough water.

Gave it a try. When I got there it was high flooded out and very muddy. Gonna be great when it calms down.

This has been my best spring ever so far. I’ve caught 94 over 30” and 3 that were 50” or better. All this rain and flooding the last couple weeks has made it rough though. Hoping to get back out this weekend.
