| One of my small winter projects this year will be touch up paint work for some of my older reels. I know it will be hard to color match some of them, but I'll try. Black will be the easiest. Some might not bother but it will give me something to do. Might try Duplicolor auto touch paint, but open for suggestions. Thanks. Kdawg |

| The wear on your reels is an honorable thing, shows how serious you are. Compare it to high quality electric guitars....they now sell $1,000+ gits that arrive looking like they've been beat to #*#* for years. "Road worn."
If you have extra time sharpen every boat box hook point and then paint the fresh metal with a red Sharpie. Especially hair baits. This will prevent metal corrosion from humidity created by putting your wet baits in the box. Just my theory. |

I throw a handful of those little silica gel packets in all my boxes. They're free and the supply is endless. It seems to work. The sharpie thing seems like a good idea. Why red??

I've had luck bringing stuff into Auto Value Paint and have them do a paint match. |

| I think Cincy's suggestion is the way to go. Paint matching today is pretty amazing. Don't know about reels but if you want to try, go for it. Let us know how it turns out.
About ten years ago, I and family built a large storage garage. The soffit/facia was a color I liked. Took a piece to HD and they produced a paint for the man doors and garage door that is an exact match. Few years later, had a guy build a retirement home where our cabin had been. He was frustrated because he tried to find a garage door that matched the facia but couldn't find it. He was really surprised that the door on the storage garage was not factory. |

| If you want to perfectly match the color, paint mixing would be the way to go, but it may get costly. So far, I've had good luck with the duplicolor paint at my local auto parts store. It's also the most economical way. I figure if it's durable enough for your truck, it should work on reels. The touch-up paints come with either a small brush applicator or in pen form. Metallic black was easy to match. I found that GM cherry red metallic was a good choice for my red ambassadors. My hardest color to match that I still need to find is a metallic blue for my old Daiwa Millionaires. I'll keep looking. Kdawg |

| Hmm, I am looking at getting a new vehicle, either a Tahoe or a Yukon. Yukon comes in a metallic blue, that might be a match. It is one of GM's upgrade paints. I have never owned a Red vehicle, so looking at that but saw a high end Yukon in that blue and it was sharp as well. However, I think those optional paints are a multi layer paint, clear coat over a metallic/pearl type paint. |
