I recently boat a Garmin 93sv UHD and really like it so far. I was thinking about getting a second unit but I seen the lowrance 9 triple shot is much cheaper. How is the clarity on the side imaging for that unit? I have a 5" triple shot, an older model and the side and down imaging isn't as good. I can make out dense weeds but the clutter is bad. Just wondering how the newer.model compares.

I run HDS lives. The Lowrance 3 in 1 is substantially better than the GT54 for side and down imaging. The triple shot is probably equivalent to the garmin from what I have seen. A friend of mine had garmin ultras with the gt54 and I was able to see a lot more with SI than he was. Marked a bridge one day when we were both out with our wives. Seen on mine, not his when marked with a marker buoy. (Suspension bridge)

The GT56 is 10X better than the GT54.

I have the 54 and everything I read says there's no difference between that and the 56 in less than 30ft. The lowrance is about 150 cheaper but I'm just wondering if the triple shot has improved over the version I have which I'd definitely no where near close to the Garmin with the 54.

I don't use garmin SI so take this or what it's worth but I don't think the reviews from bass/walleye guys mean much for muskie guys. They are mainly seeing structure. Muskie guys want to see images of fish. You can see structure with both of them but seeing a clearer image of a muskie would be a lot better with the 56.
