| Ripped my shoulder up a few years ago due to a hunting trip accident. I completely tore the supraspinatus and have lived with until now but its gotten much worse. Doc says I need a shoulder replacement. Has anyone year had a shoulder replacement and if so are you still able to effectively cast for muskies? |

Location: Chardon, Ohio | I have had both shoulders replaced with the “total reverse” operation. Right one in Oct. of 2019 and left in Nov.of 2021. Post op was a piece of cake. If I was a golfer I could have been golfing in 10 weeks. Since both were done over the winter months, no problem come spring. MUCH EASIER to recover from then Rotator cuff surgery (which I had).
In March of 2022 I slipped on ice and totally destroyed my right shoulder and broke my right foot. I now have a rod through the bone to my elbow and by late Sept/Oct. I was able to throw pounders without any trouble.
With the total reverse surgery it eliminated the use of the rotator cuff and uses the deltoid instead. Have it done and you’ll question yourself as to why you didn’t have it done sooner.

| Yes, I just had to switch to right hand. Less efficient and the big dogs may give me the side eye for it, but I jist cant do that for any decent period of time without paying for it. |

| I've haven't had nothing done yet, but from what I hear the procedures are getting better and better, lots of hips and knee's.
For you guy's in the gym work all three heads of the Deltoids to save your shoulders.

| Prior to the end of a Musky magazine getting published, I wrote several articles under the series title, Aging Angler. In one article, I discussed an effective alternative cast method for guys who suffer shoulder pain. Basically, you pin your elbow tight to the side and coil and then uncoil your torso. Instead of the arms and shoulders, the power comes from the body turn (similar to the golf swing.) Staying with the golf theme, using a more flexible shaft (rod,) you can also allow the unloading of your rod flex to do a lot of the work. Now 73, I am constantly trying to balance the terrific aspect of not having to work with the plain fact that stuff is worn out and hurting. |

Partially torn biceps, partial rotator cuff, complete labral tear, and some bursitis all in one shoulder. Post surgery I am more stiff but less in pain. Would recommend. |
