Good day guys, have around a 12 year old Pro Mariner 20 for my trolling motor batteries. Over the winter months I plug in the first of every month and let charge overnight. Everything has been great over the years with it. Question is now the charger seems not to be working correctly. Both red and green lights come on so it is charging but throughout the time while charging the red light goes out and the green light is flashing. Have checked all connections and battery fluid levels and everything is ok there. Have called Pro Mariner and not much help there. Is it the charger or possibly a problem with a battery? How can I just test the charger? Your help would be appreciated. And A Blessed Happy Easter to all!

Have you checked the voltage on the individual batteries?

Sorry for delayed response back. Yes I did, they are both at full charge. I disconnected the leads from the batteries and plugged the charger back in and the light is solid green and not blinking. After my batteries were fulling charged in the past the green light never blinked but stayed solid. I do not know how quickly the green light starts blinking. After plugging in I check and the red and green lights are both on meaning that it is charging but now eventually the green light starts blinking.

I used to use that brand. I had several fail before the 2 year warranty was up, but got tired of sending in for replacement and having to buy another one in the meanwhile.
I went to a Minn Kota and have had no issues in 7 years. I was also advised to use a heavy gauge power cord. (Like 12 Gauge ext cord)

I'd say that if you got 12 years out of one of those, you got your money's worth.
i agree that I likes the MK I got better than the Pro M it replaced. m

Thanks guys for your comments. I checked the voltage tonight with a voltage meter and they are both at 12.63 volts. I will check out the MinnKota which would be comparable in size for a two bank then I guess. Just doesn't make sense why it would be blinking!

I don't remember exactly, (7 years ago) other than the lights would never stop blinking. I think battery boiled a time or 2 also. I was advised by them to send in, and each time (2 or 3 times?) they deemed bad unit and replaced - didn't repair or argue, no problem. just a major pain.

Thanks for all of your comments. I did now do a test on both leads from the charger. One is at 13.3 which is recommended and the other is at 6.82. More than likely the reason for the green light blinking and not what Pro Mariner is telling me.
