Just kinda popped into my head. Epoxy clears aside- Is there any REAL reason why majority of baits are done in a Satin to Full Gloss palate? As far as I recall, Suick has a Flat Black, and rubber skirts aren't glossy after a little use but thats darn near it. I understand some "flash" might be achieved with a gloss color. But I'm kinda wondering if more contrast might be a achieved with the use of a matte or flat palate.
Anybody ever play around with mattes or flats?

i caught my first and many muskies on a flat black suick.

interesting question though...ive never really thought about it that way. on my wood lures the clear coat is mostly a hardening / protective layer, and a way to add depth so some of the paints.

I'll have to mess around with this winter.

Yes, my first musky back in the 1970s was on a flat black suick as well. And like you never thought of the finish in this way.
