Looks like I'm going to fish later into the fall than usual and chase the whitefish spawn. I have heard horror stories about Ulterras freezing up. I typically keep the shaft clean and apply silicone a couple times a year. Heard one guide say they carry a couple thermos of hot water to pour over the unit if it freezes up. What do you guys suggest.

Make sure it is on the quick connect bracket?
I've used mine into December and not had an issue....yet. But that day is out there. No doubt.
