Had a good weekend fished Friday evening last2 hours of light, lost 3 raised 2 others. Fished all day Sunday overcast light rain most of the day perfect musky weather. Caught 4, lost 3 more, total of 22 fish encounters. I have to come up with better trailer hooks, losing too many fish. I ordered a few different ones last night to give a try.

I stayed home all weekend but got up early today to go to Barr Lake State Park a short five mile drive from home and this lake has Tigers in it. This lake is and first and foremost a irrigation lake. Got out there and it's looking more like a mud puddle and not long before dead pool! All my spots where high and dry! Went home without making a cast.

Popped a 28" walleye and a 17.5" smallie as the two big fish on the wisco river. We drifted into a mid river tree and my buddy fell ass over tin cups out of the boat. He swallowed some water luckily it wasn't deep. We caught about 25 fish in a day and a half.

Only went on Sunday. Raised an upper 40's and low 40's. Low 40's gave me the most enjoyable and irritating "bite" I've gotten to see so far. On a a split tail B52 she taste bit the tail on its way in. Than followed hot nose to tail through the first 2 8's continuely tasting the water, switched to an oval instead and really jerk ripped it in the straights and gave it loads of hang time in the corners. She chased this for 2 laps than started to slow down, so I just slowly twitch jerked it in a straight line down the boat, she lazily followed halfway and stopped. No explanation as to why I did this- but I panicked I guess and thought I'd try this I guess,I don't know. I popped bail and pulled line out and let it fall to bottom (10-12'). She slowly followed it down, I let it sit for a few seconds before I ice fishing style twitch jigged it back up and went back into a few eights and never saw her again.
I've never had a fish follow this way before, they either hit or split in the 8 right away, what would you guys do here?

^^ Yeah, normal behaviour. When they want to eat, they eat - the following and this other jaw snapping stuff is basically curiosity. Fish don't have too many options to figure out what something is. Deadsticking is one other option that I try in these circumstances and they will continue with the jaw snapping and occassionally do bite - not always on a hook though. Come back at dusk and give it a go again.

Didn't fish the weekend. Too much activity on the water. Went out Tuesday afternoon and fished until dark. Started slow but in the two hours from moonrise to dark we boated 6 and lost one. No big fish but 5 from 38 1/2 to 41 1/2 inches. Not too impressive for Green Bay!

Went back yesterday with better walking shoes and a ultra light to take a closer look. Found some dead Carp (things are bad when the Carp can't make it) and talked to someone who said there were dead fish below the spillway. When there is water in the lake and a number of wet years in a row it's a good place to fish if you have a boat. Walleye's, big Wippers and the lake record for the Tiger is 50" 34 pounds.

Was out on Monday in central MN. Caught 1 small one on the 8, lost a 2nd small one on the 8 and raised a legit 50 incher. Will be back out again tomorrow. Glad to see the cooler weather rolling in here. Hoping the fish really start to fire up over the next couple weeks.

Spent 2 days on vermilion, water temps from 67-71. Got a 47” and a 42”. 47” was in 9ft in a sand weedbed with wind blowing into it. Ate a homemade triple bladed bucktail similar to a jr3 but with staggered blades. 42 was in an 8ft sand flat with some scattered weeds, ate a small homemade double 8 Indiana maribou bucktail burned as fast as I could. Tried some rocks and bigger weed beds but every fish I saw was in small to mid size sand patches 10ft and less. Only could move fish on aggressive baits, tried gliders and cranks and nothing, went back to burning blades and prop baits and I would see fish

Labor Day weekend I usually stay home. But mother nature decided it was a fisherman's weekend when it rained al day Saturday and kept the riff raff off the lake. Caught one upper 30's, lost a better one and missed one at the boat that tried to eat from under the boat. Had 9 other follows, mostly on Suicks. Went back out Monday after about 3" of rain Sunday night but the lake was blown out and muddy.

Took off from work on Friday the 9th and went 3 for 3, all over 40". No other fish moved. Saturday was "Take a Warrior Fishing" day with the local VA. Got a couple older vets on to some crappie. They were content just to float around and watch the wildlife, though.
