Posts: 490 Location: NW WI | So I was killing time on Youtube searching "Royal Orba". Haven't heard a whole lot of hoopla about em and mine hasn't generated a follow yet. Than I watched this... https://youtu.be/uiekmrKvUN0 So, this video is obvious disregard for any animal mentality, but to those of you that have logged time with inexperienced anglers: "How do you approach education with handling? Pre water? Step by step when hooked up? and with the popularity of the bass fishing and the quick toss release method, you guys ever receive any attitude from "other species anglers" when you try to provide instruction?

Posts: 480 Location: Northern Illinois | Whew! That's a tough watch! Almost 3 minutes out of the water. I know I couldn't hold my breath that long! To your question, I seldom fish with new fishermen. With me and friends, we keep the fish wet until everything is ready for a quick pic. If the fish is well in the 40's we'll quickly bump it on a board. We have a stick for water measurements for shorter fish. I believe it should be something talked about before fishing.

Posts: 24 Location: Southern WI | I’ve seen some poor handling online but never such blatant disregard. Even as a kid/novice knowing nothing my fish all went straight back in the water in a matter of seconds. I’ve also never seen a “muskie angler” more worried about the measurement than the actual release. Pavement for days and then he drops it on the rocks too. Obviously his first and hopefully his last. Posts: 492 Location: midwest | Unfortunately this is a common experience with the shore crowd on that lake. There are a few diligent anglers that do their best handle them properly which includes unhooking quickly and lower them back down to the water in a timely manner with a net but that is rare. It's usually a lengthy photo or youtube session. I've seen it play out several times in multiple spots along this fishery and have even seen fish chucked back in from 10-12' up over the railings as well and float away.

That's the Detroit River near the GM Renaissance Center. Not surprised. They're on Belle Isle, I think?

Posts: 115 | Where to start? There is a guy that fishes my lake with his wife and is loudly mean to her. I've been tempted to "correct" him (ala The Shining). Can someone get him flopping around on rocks then toss him in cold water!? In this case, it would be the humane thing to do. Edited by curdmudgeon 2/19/2022 5:42 AM

Posts: 51 | Unfortunately, comments are turned off... Guy is trying to untangle his bait from the net while the fish is laying on the ground... Dude **** your lure man, take care of the fish... smh
