Hey guys,

I've had Verizon for over 20 years, but I share a family plan and there is talk about maybe moving to T-Mobile.

Does anyone up in the Park Rapids/Bemidji/Walker area have T Mobile? Just wondering how good the coverage is?

I spend a lot time up in those areas and Verizon is good, so I don't want to switch to something that may not work well up there.

Thanks - Ball Cap

I too have been with Verizon for a long time...No personal experience with T-mobile...but I wouldn't do it...I have fished with many people the last 5 years in N. MN who have had a variety of carriers. Many times they have no coverage..I almost always do and have never found an example where I have no coverage and a different carrier does.. You won't find a carrier for better coverage than Verizon, that's been my experience.

EDIT.. I do know that 2 years ago several in our group had Sprint and it was awful in many spots up there, not sure if after the merger T-Mobile has built out the network in that area ...I'd be surprised if they have...but maybe someone else here can give you "more hope".

Yah, that's kind of what I figured. It's not worth switching to save a few bucks if you don't have coverage in the more remote areas that Verizon is decent in.

Thanks

I moved to Verizon from T Mobil about 8 years ago because there coverage was better in norther MN; it certainly was not Verizon's great customer service (sarcasm). That said things may have gotten better since 2013 but at that time Verizon was much better up there...

Probably depends on which network they use. Most providers use one of the three big networks. Historically, Verizon has had the most comprehensive coverage of rural/remote areas. Any provider that uses the Verizon network will have the same coverage. I got Xfinity mobile (Comcast), which uses the Verizon network. I almost never use the internet on my phone, can't stand the small screens, so I got their 1 gig plan for $13 a month. Unlimited call and text and wi-fi use. 1 gig is enough for any occasional use like looking things up. You don't use much data unless you watch videos or listen to music or play on line games.
